PANGANAYI BORAN

A twenty-year-old Zimbabwean Boran stud with a serious herd, a July production sale, and no way for a buyer to see any of it before arriving at the farm gate.

CELEBRATION JOURNAL ONLINE

The situation

WHAT THEY HAD BEFORE

Panganayi had two decades of breeding behind them and almost nothing a buyer could look at. Enquiries came through WhatsApp forwards and word of mouth. If somebody heard about the stud on a Tuesday, there was no page to send them to.

The twentieth-anniversary journal existed as a printed book and a heavy file. Buyers outside Zimbabwe — the ones who most needed convincing — never saw it. Sale dates lived in a poster that circulated in one or two groups and then vanished.

Nothing was wrong with the cattle. Everything was wrong with the paper trail around them.

What we built

THE BUILD

The site was built around a single question: what does a buyer need before he books a flight or a long drive? The answer is the herd, the bloodlines, the sale date and a way to ask one question without filling in a form.

The 72-page celebration journal was put online as a page-flip a buyer can read on a phone, with a download for anyone who wants the file. The sale block sits at the top of the home page during sale season and changes state on the day itself.

  • Herd and bloodline pages with photographs shot on the farm
  • A page-flip celebration journal, readable on a phone
  • Sale-season block that promotes the auction from the home page
  • WhatsApp enquiry on every screen — no forms
  • Holiday-home and articles sections for the wider operation

What happened

THE OUTCOME

In the 48 hours before the July sale, the site carried 700 visitors. That is the one hard number we own on this site, and it is why this page exists: 700 people looked at that herd who previously would have seen a poster in a group chat, or nothing.

The practical effect was on the phone. Buyers arrived at the conversation already knowing the bloodlines and the sale date, so the calls were about animals rather than logistics.
